Life Is Like Death.....WithOut tHOughtS......

Hai everyone out there..enojoying the beauty of the world..fine lets put a break and explore our own bodies wonderful organ "BRAIN"....although the brain conjures a less romantic notions than the heart, this ball of soft tissue placed top of the spine is the most vital organ where the lifetime memories-from ur first love to the last dinner you had rest...MEMORY as they say is a relative of truth and to appreciate it we must understand what it is to be without it..like the character in GHAJINI...

AMNESIA as a whole means the loss of memory and the major types are..

Anterograde Amnesia-where the patient remembers the events prior to accidents and is not able to make any future memories..like the one in ghajini....

Retrograde Amnesia-just oppo of the above i.e.forgets past events and is able to make future memories.....

As we all know that the understanding of what just happened only allow as to prepare for what will happen next and the loss of that ability will leave a person disoriented with respect to time and self..therefore one of the patient when asked about the feeling replied "It's like death..no thoughts at all"....

The memory stored in our brain is of three types 1.Procedural memory-deals with knowledge of activities done 2.Episodic memroy-deals with time and location 3.Semantic memory-deals with knowledge of facts...

These memories are stored in MEMORY CHIP of our brain - Hippocampus..it is where our short term memroy get converted to long term memroy...location of which is just 2 inches depth on top of the ear...

Lets take an example of conversation between two persons for understanding better....this whole expreience of conversation is stored in our brain in a processed manner i.e.initially all the characters of this conversation[like voice,appearance,meaning..] are captured by different parts of the cortex[outer part of the brain] of brain and then this whole process is projected as one by our memory chip hippocampus...which means that any damage to our chip = wipeout of memory=amnesia....

Now lets get more interseted by exploring the life of Henry Gustav Molaison who lived "A LIFE WITHOUT MEMORY"..surprising isn't it..this guy after exposing him to a bike accident at age nine left him no option but surgery for his recovery, the surgery he underwent involved the removal of 2/3rd of his hippocampus...which disappeared his ability to remember for anything morethan 20 sec.....poor man died in 2nd dec 08 and his brain is preserved to facilitate further studies on brain....

more severe is a case of 26yr young man who is living in kathmandu..who doesn't even know what is happening to him and his family i.e.zero memory.....for him his life has become a daily encounter...this condition is because of undercared Herpex Simplex Fevr[a viral fever]...

Ok dudes i think you must have got something in to your mind.....

if not then have a nuero checkup....:-)))
